Is Earth Day Meaningless?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

I looked at the calendar this morning and it said today is called Earth Day.  I noticed that today is also called Thursday. And that is kind of what it is like around here – every day is an Earth Day at EnviroBinz. At least that is the spirit that we hope to bring each and every day.

Now of course we don’t believe that Earth Day is meaningless. We believe it is very important to celebrate, commemorate accomplishments, raise awareness, focus energy and do all the other great things that Earth Day does. But at EnviroBinz we must try to do all those things each and every day if we are to succeed in our mission.

So Happy Earth Day – on our calendar it is THE most important day to get involved and try and make positive change for the earth and your community. And so is Friday.

Springtime Renewal

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

It is springtime here in the midwest. Much like the trees and animals outside my window that are waking up from winter, the EnviroBinz blog is waking up after a lengthy quiet period. Although quiet, we have been busy – planning, studying, resting, researching, and sometimes just thinking.  The result of all of this squirreling around is a restored energy and renewed enthusiasm about the opportunity to share our vision and accomplish our mission: to help improve communities through recycling.

In the coming days, weeks, months . . . we intend to use this space to share our thoughts and feelings about topics that relate to the EnviroBinz mission.  And maybe some that don’t.  We hope you find it thought-provoking and insightful. And maybe sometimes mildly humorous.  We hope you agree with some of what we say…and disagree with some of it.  And maybe sometimes share your own thoughts and feelings.

Bottom line, we hope to always speak from the heart because this stuff is important to us…and if you are still reading, it probably is to you too.
For now, consider this: if just once today you had the opportunity to take something useless and turn it into something useful, would you? And how would you feel about it?
